Welcome to the Sunrise Valley PTA Website!  Our goals are to enrich the learning experience of our children, energize our community, and support the families, teachers, and administrators that make Sunrise Valley such a great place. We hope you will come here regularly to find out what’s happening in the Sunrise Valley community and how you can participate in our volunteer efforts and fun activities.

Friday e-Flier

In an effort to reduce the amount of paper used and to make communication with families more efficient, SVES PTA has converted to an e-Flier this year. You can sign up to receive an e-mail on Fridays directly from us, or visit this spot each week for the news.  Of interest this week:

• PTA Officers Elected for Next Year— Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to serve in some capacity on the SVES PTA Board for 2012–13. At our meeting last week we voted to accept the slate as presented, with Peter Huffer as President for next year, and Jody Rosenblatt as President-Elect for the following year.  There are still a few vacancies that need to be filled:  Corresponding Secretary, Bingo Night, Show What You Know, Reflections Art Program, and Hospitality (mainly responsible for the Back to School Breakfast).  If you are interested in helping with any of these, contact nominating committee members Peter Huffer, Jody Rosenblatt, or Valerie Lister to volunteer.  We need your help to keep all our wonderful programs going! 
• PTA Reimbursements—If you have any receipts for PTA activities that need to be reimbursed, please submit them to Treasurer Jody Rosenblatt by May 21 so she can wrap up the books for the school year.
• PTA Bylaws Revision—Our PTA bylaws must be reviewed every five years to assure that we are in compliance with the state and national bylaws.  A recent review of SVES bylaws indicated that only a few minor changes are needed to update our bylaws. Revisions can be viewed on our website and we will vote on them at next month's meeting.
• Camp Invention—There are still some spaces open for this summer's Camp Invention and we are still accepting registrations. You can register online at www.campinvention.org or by calling 800-968-4332 or by downloading the flyer. 
•  Special Education Items—PTA's special ed rep, Lori Allred, has these items of possible interest to share:

  • Orientation to Special Education for parents NEW to Special Education - May 22, from 11:00 - 12:30
  • Standards-Based IEPs session from 10:00–noon on May 24.
